Ecotourism
Today, I read an article about the benefits of ecotourism for local communities.
What Are the Benefits of Ecotourism for Local Communities?
I agree with the author's idea. First of all, ecotourism can help the people. Ecotourism can afford some jobs and ecotourism income can give them better lives. Second, ecotourism are good for the nature resources. If the local people know the nature resources can make some income, they may have the motive to protect them. The local people will improve their knowledges about the nature resources by the communication with the ecotourists. And then they know how to protect the nature resources. Eotourism is good for the local communities.

The Great Wall of China
The Great Wall of China is a Wonder of the World. It is a series of fortifications. It is made of stone, brick, tamped earth, wood, and other materials. It is generally built along an east-to-west line across the northern borders of China. It is used to protect the Chinese Empire against intrusions by warlike peoples or forces, such as the nomadic groups.
Several wall was being built as early as the 7th century BC. Especially famous is the wall built between 220–206 BC by the first Emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang. He joined the walls together and made them bigger and stronger. But little of that wall remains. Since then, the Great Wall has on and off been rebuilt, maintained, and enhanced. The majority of the existing wall was rebuilt during the Ming Dynasty (1368~1644).
The Ming wall measure 8,851.8 km and the entire wall with all of its branches measure out to be 21,196.18 km. You know the equator is just 40,076 Km. Its width is 6 to 7 meters in the bottom and 4 to 5 meters in the top and its height is 7 to 8 meters.
There are eight places you can visit the Great Wall in Beijing. They are two passes (JuyongGuan and Gubeikou) and six sections of the wall (Badaling, Mutianyu, Simatai, Jinshanling, HuanghuaCheng and Jiankou). Another two nearby Great Wall sights, Shanghaiguan and Huangyaguan can each be visited as an overnight tour from Beijing.
For foreign visitors, it is said that if one has not climbed the Great Wall, one has not been to China. So welcome to China, and welcome to the Great Wall.
Tourism
In my opinion, tourism is the business activity connected with providing accommodation, services and entertainment for people who are visiting a place for pleasure.
There are many kinds of tourism in China. First of all, there are many ancient monuments in China. For example, you can visit The National Palace Museum, The Great Wall, The Summer Palace and many other places in Beijing. Xi'an is a good choice for ancient monuments, too. Xi'an was the capital of China for 13 dynasties in the history. Secondly, there are many mountains for sightseeing. It's said that there are Five Famous Mountains in China, including Taishan Mount, Hengshan Mount(衡山), Songshan Mount, Huashan Mount, and Hengshan Mount(恒山) . As you know, the highest mountain in the world-Everest Mount is located in China. Also, China has some very beautiful beach. The beach in Hainan Province is the most famous place for travelling. Many people from China and other countries go there every years.

Lady Pen
In my opinion, the "Lady Pen" is not necessary. First of all, although women and men have many differences in many areas, they have many commons. For example, they both eat the same race. Can you image there is a kind of "women race"? So women and men can use the same pen. Secondly, the women rights are reflected in the way they do things, not only in one specific goods. If women can use "Lady Pen", but they don't have the right to vote, can you say that women are aqual to men? So, I don't think it is a good idea to have "Lady Pen".

Gender
What are the responsibilities of a father?
First of all, a father should earn enough money for the family. Sometimes, the mother may have a job, but it is the responsibility of a father to earn money. Secondly, a father plays an important role when the family make a decesion. When will they buy a house? Where should the house locate? It is the responsibility of a father to make decesions.
What are the responsibilities of a mother?
First of all, a mother should take care of the family members, especially the children. Secondly, a mother should do the housework. So there are many stay at home mothers.
Do parents expect different things from sons than from daughters?
I think parents expect different things from sons than from daughters. For a son, parents may hope he study hard and have a good job. On the other hand, for a daughter, parents may hope she grow up happily and marry with a good man.
Are there any professions that have more women than men in your country?
Yes, there are some professions that have more women than men in China, such as nurse, accountant, teacher and so on. For example, I am an accountant. When I studied in the university, there were 47 students in my class, making up of 31 girls and 16 boys. In my department, there are 7 men and 12 women.
Should boys and girls be brought up differently?
Yes, I think so. There is an old Chinese proverb that says "Daughters should be raised with an affluent life-style, while sons should be bred with an impoverished one." This means a son should be taught how to live by himself and a daughter should be taught how to live graciously.

Halloween
There was a Halloween Party at Mac Hall A/B in the U of C on october 26 for the students in the English Language Program. I took part in the party. First of all, of course, I carved pumpkin in the party. Then some students sung and danced. During the party, we ate some snacks and had something to drink.
Ghost Festival in China
I like Halloween because it is interesting and we can communicate with others people.
Pumpin Carving
In China, we didn't celebrate Halloween in the past. But now, some yong people and foreign companies have some parties to celebrate Halloween. In China, we have Ghost Festival in the August, which I think it is the same to Halloween in the quality. On Ghost Festival, people sacrifice the persons who have died. And there are many others activities.

My Achievement
There is a College Entrance Examination before you become a college student in China. It is hold once a year and which university you can go depend on the score you get in the examination. If you want to go to a good university, you must get a high score in the examination because there are about ten millions high school student who take part in the examination every year. Fortunately, I did well in the examination and I chose a famous university in China.
There was an enormous amount of pressure that went along with my preparation for the College Entrance Examination, both the physical and the spiritual. I focused on the preparation because I knew I couldn't escape from the examination. Finally, I perfected the examination and achieved a high score.

Fraud
I think the person who pretended to have cancer, raised money for cancer treatment, and then disappeared should be arrested because this kind of fraud is so bad that people will not trust friends.
There are many kinds of deceptions in China. The motive of the fakers is to make money quickly and easily.
When I was walking in the streets, I ususlly see some children with schoolbags kneeled on the floor. There was a paper in front of each them. It mainly said he/she had lost the wallet and he/she need some money to go home. They often asked for 1$ or 2$ because the traffic price in very cheap in Beijing.

Tobacco And Alcohol Advertising
In my opinion, advertising campaigns for tobacco should be forbidded, but advertising campaigns for alcohol shouldn't be forbidded. First of all, smoking is bad for health. It is said that there are millions of people die of the illlness caused by smoking. Secondly, alcohol has many affections in our lives. Drinking too much is bad for health, but it also can be used in industry, medical care, and so on. So I think advertising campaigns for tobacco and alcohol should be distinguished.
China is different from other countries. Advertising campaigns for tobacco and alcohol are allowed in China, but there are many requests. There are special laws for tobacco advertisements and alcohol advertisements. The companies can't advertise for tobacco on broadcasts, movies,TV commercials, nespapers, magazines. The advertisements for tobacco in public areas are forbidden. There are some requests about the contents, too. The requests about advertisements for alcohol are very detailed. For example, the advertisements can't include the move of drinking and there can be not more than two advertisements for alcohol in a magazine.
